Are DC Fans Unhappy with Aquaman 2?

You might surprised why “Boycott Aquaman 2” is trending on Twitter. If you are surprised, then you must know some facts about “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom”.

Why fans are unhappy with Aquaman 2?

It seems DC Extended Universe lovers have lost interest in superhero movies. The reason for the anhedonia could be the superhero fatigue and similar storylines. Another reason could be Johnny Depp’s ex-partner Amber Heard plays an important role, ‘Mera’ in that movie.

The courtroom drama and legal affairs with Johnny Depp already created a negative image of Amber in the fan’s heart. The movie makers already minimized the role of Amber Heard in the movie, but the fans are still unhappy. Now people want to boycott the entire movie despite Amber is not a part of the movie’s marketing.

What do the fans want?

The fans now want to recast Amber Heard in Aquaman 2 due to the drama surrounding her and Johnny Depp. The petition to recast Mera has been continued for years and till now the petition has received almost 4.6 million signatures in writing. The petition started when Johnny Depp was deprived of his role in Fantastic Beasts 3.

Amber Heard was an important part of Aquaman (2018). Due to the narration of the story, it was important to include the role of Amber Heard in Aquaman 2.

However, the filmmakers were aware of the consequences and hence they tried to squeeze Mera’s role as much as possible because they couldn’t neglect the role. Portraying another actress as Mera may hurt the image of the character as well. Watching this protest, it is still unclear if Amber Heard will appear in any Warner Bros. superhero movies again.
