Arsenal seems very interested in signing Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo. This season, Kubo is in top-notch form by registering 4 goals and one assist in 7 appearances through all competitions.
Mike Arteta, Arsenal boss, has made a few impressive additions to the squad by signing players like Kai Havartz, Declan Rice, Trossard, and Jurrien Timber. Arsenal is trying to close the gap with the recent treble winner, Manchester City.
In the last season, Arsenal was at the top of the English Premier League table for the majority of the time. But inconsistency in the end cost them the EPL title. The major reason for their failure was the lack of squad depth.
In 2023-24 Arteta has signed quality players to ensure the quality of the squad despite injuries. Japanese star Kubo could be their next addition as they don’t have proper backup for Bukayo Saka.
Arsenal currently competing in the Champions League after six years. If Arsenal wants to reach a significant stage in the competition, they’ll need more quality signings.
The Japanese player spent three years of his career at Real Madrid but failed to get a chance at the first team. In the summer of 2022, he moved to Real Sociedad and proved his quality there.
As a part of the deal, Real Madrid has included a buyback clause worth €30 million. But any other club can also sign him if they meet his release clause of €60 million.
Real Madrid is struggling this season in the right-wing as they don’t have quality options there who can pose a threat from the right just like what Vinicius does from the left. In this situation, Kubo can be a great option as he knows the system of Real Madrid very well.
Real Madrid will also try to trigger the cheaper buyback option to sign Kubo in winter. If both the clubs bid for him, it’ll be up to Kubo to decide his next destination.
Kubo usually plays as a right-winger but he can also play as a left-winger as well as an attacking midfielder. Any team that will sign Kubo will get a greater degree of flexibility in the squad.
