Chelsea Boss Mauricio Pochettino Prefers Right Project Over Length of Contract

After a disappointing season in 2022-23, Chelsea fans were hoping for a bright season following the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the new Chelsea coach. But the Premier League giant had their worst start in top-flight football in the last 45 years.

The new Chelsea boss is optimistic about the future and he gave some insights about his experiments with the young and inexperienced lads ahead of their West London derby with Fulham tonight.

An interviewer asked Pochettino when the fans can experience some real success as his contract is valid for only two years. But Pochettino laughed and asked back “Two years?”

Pochettino revealed to Football Daily, that it is very important to him right now to stay on the right project. He thinks the owners and sporting directors are happy with him and he is happy with the club as well.

The length of the contract is not important for Pochettino but identifying the right persons to drive the ship is more important. Last Friday, the manager expressed his wish to be more involved in Chelsea’s transfer strategy as the Blues are having a hard time finding form.

The Blues spent more than €400 million on transfer since Todd Boehly became the new owner including a British record £ 115 million on Moises Caicedo yet they are 15th on the EPL table. But a moment of relief, Chelsea managed to beat Brighton on Thursday in the EFL Cup.

Chelsea fans should be thankful to former Manchester City player Cole Palmer as he provided the assist to Chelsea’s new signing Nicolas Jackson. It is Jackson’s second goal for The Blues since he joined the club from Villarreal. His five booking in six games means he will not be a part of the squad against Fulham.

There is good news for Pochettino as Reece James will join the full training season soon. James has been suffering hamstring injury since August. Having James in the lineup will be a big boost for Pochettino. Meanwhile, Malo Gusto and Ben Chilwell also got injured.
