The Hunger Games director pointed out the difference between Jennifer Lawrence and Rachel Zegler’s characters

Speaking to Empire magazine, Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence pointed out the major difference between former protagonist Katniss Everdeen and its new lead Lucy Gray. 

Rachel Zegler, the new addition to the franchise plays the character of Lucy Gray Baird. The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is set 60 years prior to the original trilogy which features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen as the main protagonist.

The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will focus on the backstory of Coriolanus Snow, which is portrayed by Donald Sutherland. 

Francis Lawrence, who is the director of Hunger Games 1 and 2, claimed that Jennifer Lawrence or Katniss is a character who is introverted as well as a survivor. He also added that Katniss is stoic and asexual. 

Commenting about Lucy Gray, Francis said that Lucy is completely opposite to Katniss. She is a symbol of sexuality. The 22-year-old American actress knows very well how to play with crowds and manipulate them. Tom Blyth plays the role of teenager Snow. Euphoria stars Hunter Schafer and Viola Davis are also present in crucial roles.
