Is It Worth Watching Expend4bles? Is it  Really Worse than Expected?

It is very sad to say Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham were not enough to save Expend4bles from being flopped. The fourth part action-packed franchise has faced the worst opening weekend as The Nun 2 claimed the top spot by overtaking the latest released films.

The Lionsgate and Millennium’s new project, Expend4bles, which is also known as Expendables 4, opened with $15.8 million and grossed $214 million globally to date. Popular faces such as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox and Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Tony Jaa even didn’t succeed in entertaining movie lovers.

But is the Expend4bles really a bad movie? Let’s find it out.

Review of Expend4bles:

It’s almost a decade after ‘The Expendables 3’ was released, Lionsgate and Millennium have come up with their new film of the franchise but the fans rejected it. Not only the box office collection, but the word of mouth for the movie is also not convincing. Even the fans of the stars are criticizing the movie, which is not a common thing.

expendables 4 review

Sylvester Stallone and other crew members released three action-packed movies within a span of four years between 2010 and 2014 and received huge praises from critics for their work. After all, that was the golden age for superhero and action movies. But after the Expendables 3, the franchise went to a long break. Now when the team is reunited, seems they chose the wrong time and script for the film.

Familiar faces like Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Dolph Lundgren have returned to action with their explosive outing and personalities while, new faces like Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Tony Jaa, Jacob Scipio, and Randy Couture also featured in the film to support the main characters.

Scott Waugh and his team tried to draw the attention of the younger generation but it failed drastically. The inclusion of Megan Fox, 50 Cent, and Jacob Scipio basically makes little to nothing sense to the story. All the characters failed to revive the aura and energy that the franchise had back in 2014.

Poor quality action sequences, monotonous repetitive storyline, shoddy special effects, and average cinematography will surprise you when you understand that the budget of the movie is $100 million.

Jason Statham could be the only positive among so many negatives. He tried to save the film with his touches of humor and actions but it was not enough. The chemistry between him and Stallone is very little. The duo tried to create some banter but due to their poor chemistry, it looks dimmed. Jacob Scipio deserves thanks as he tried to entertain us with comedy but his jokes fell flat and sometimes it was irritable.

If you love to watch action movies without putting much pressure on your brain on the weekend, the movie can be a nice fit for you. From car chases, and the firing of bullets to explosions, seems Scott Waugh promised to show you an explosion every minute. Let’s be honest, it was not exciting at all because you at least need some context for every explosion.
