Virat Kohli Breaks Another Record of Sachin Tendulkar Against South Africa

Virat Kohli is now the second as well as fastest player to score 6,000 ODI runs in one country. While batting against South Africa at Eden Garden King Kohli breaks this record on Sunday.

The 35-year-old right-hand batsman arrived on the pitch in the sixth over after the departure of captain Rohit Sharma. The journey to a century against South Africa was not an easy task for him. Kohli survived a few close caught-behind balls on the slow and slightly gripping track of Eden Garden. When he found the rhythm, he batted very smoothly the entire innings.

Virat is the Fastest Player to Score 6000+ runs in One Country:

Sachin Tendulkar scored 6976 runs in 164 ODIs and 145 innings were required to reach 6000 runs. Whereas Virat Kohli, on his birthday, breaks the record in only 119 innings. Virat is equally good in away matches as well.

Only four batsmen have scored 5000+ runs in away ODIs. Virat is now second on the list with 5336 runs and less than 150 runs behind Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara. However, it is worth mentioning that Virat already left Sachin Tendulkar behind in away records. Virat owns a staggering average of 60.13 at home and 55.58 in away ODIs.

Virat Kohli is the Second Batsman to Score 3000+ runs against South Africa:

Virat Kohli became the second batsman to score 3000+ runs against South Africa across all formats with his century at Eden Garden. Again, Sachin Tendulkar topped the list as the legendary cricketer collected 3752 runs in 103 innings. His successor has completed 3000+ runs only in 65 innings against South Africa. This is an amazing record to achieve on his 35th birthday.
