English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Tottenham offered FC Barcelona for 20-year-old La Masia product Ansu Fati. Fati’s agent Jorge Mendes offered him to top clubs in England in an attempt to fix Barcelona’s financial woes.
FC Barcelona currently suffering financial turmoil due to financial fair play rules. Barcelona needs funds to sign and register Manchester City star Joao Cancelo by September 1 which would allow Ansu to leave his childhood club.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta also indicated that there will be an additional signing with Joao Cancelo. It means the club needs to sell at least 2 players before closing the summer transfer window. There is no concrete news on who will part his away from the club but FC Barcelona is pushing hard to sell players like Clement Lenglet, Eric Garcia etc.
Talks with Tottenham for Lenglet seem to be fruitless, hence Barcelona should try to sell other players to pave the way for Cancelo or other signings. At the beginning of the summer transfer window, no club was interested in Barcelona products like Ansu Fati or Ferran Torres. But now it is rumored that Chelsea also wants Ferran Torres and Raphinha in their squad.
Ansu Fati is not only a La Masia product, but financially beneficial for the club as the salary of Fati is comparatively lower than the other players. Currently, Ansu is not in great goal-scoring form but every manager knows that the wonderkid has the potential to be one of the best on a given day. Against AC Milan, Fati scored a banger to award FC Barcelona a 1-0 victory.
