Kay started his musical journey back in 2020 (May) on YouTube issuing his first single “FTO”. Following the success of FTO, he released three other songs namely, “Opp Spotter” (with B-Lovee), “Brotherly Love” (featuring B-Lovee and Dougie B), and “PSA”. All of these songs crossed 10 million views on YouTube over a period of one year and proved to be a massive hit. 

He released his first mixed tape, “The D.O.A. Tape”, on November 5, 2021, and became number one in the Heatseekers Albums chart. In October 2021 Kay was featured in Lil Tjay’s “Not in the Mood” which was ranked 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. In November 2021 he was named Billboard’s Hip Hop Rookie of the Month.

However, the track was leaked months prior featuring Yonkers rapper Mula Gzz and later she was replaced by Cardi B.

Kevin Perez aka Kay Flock was accused of shooting and killing 24-year-old Oscar Hernandez, who was known as OY Wasca and/or Honcho in Harlem, New York. According to the New York Police Department, on December 16, 2021, Kay shot Oscar in the neck and back, and later he died of his injuries at Mount Sinai Hospital.

On December 23, 2021, Kay Flock was arrested for the murder and currently, he is facing first-degree murder charges, indicted on federal murder, attempted murder, and racketeering charges in relation to the Seaside/DOA crew and was moved from Rikers Island to a federal prison pending trial. If he was found guilty, he might sentenced to death or life imprisonment.
