Former Pakistani skipper believes India has the best player in the middle order

Former Pakistani skipper and allrounder Shoaib Malik believes that India has the best player at No. 5 in the world- K.L. Rahul. Rahul has performed very well in the World Cup and proved himself as the pillar in the middle order.

Rahul has already scored 386 runs in 9 innings with an impressive average of 77.20. Talking about middle-order batsmen, Shoaib Malik named two batsmen K.L Rahul and Henrich Klassen. Comparing the two, Malik believes that Klassen needs a solid foundation to perform and Rahul can perform irrespective of the condition.

What did Shoaib Malik say about K.L. Rahul?

The 42-year-old allrounder said, “The best at No 5 in the world cricket. Klassen (Heinrich) needs a base to get going. But if you compare, India has got the best batter at 5, who can play in any sort of situation. This is why KL bats at 5. If India loses two or three wickets early, he is someone, who can play according to the situation”. (source)

K.L Rahul started the tournament with an unbeaten 97 against finalist Australia in Chennai when India lost 3 wickets for only 2 runs. He not only created a partnership with Virat Kohli but ensured he stayed till the end and won the game.

Apart from the contribution with the bat, Rahul did a crafty job with his gloves as well and he became part of many successful DRS reviews.
