According to Sport Witness, Tottenham Hotspur is keen to sign 21-year-old Nigerian striker Gift Orban from Gent as a replacement for the legendary striker, Harry Kane.
However, Tottemham is a bit doubtful to sign the young prospect as Gent is reportedly asking for €30 million for the striker.
In the summer transfer window, German club Bayern Munich has signed Harry Kane with a cost of $126 million. After the departure of the 30-year-old striker, there is a blank space to be filled.
As soon as it was confirmed that Kane is moving towards Bayern, a lot of new transfer rumors were linked to Tottenham. Most of them were not true, of course. But now it seems Gent’s striker Gift Orban is the perfect suit as Harry Kane’s replacement.
Several reputed media outlets have already reported that Orban is close to moving the English club but it doesn’t happen. The striker is still competing in the Belgian Pro League for K.A.A Gent.
However, it is reported now that Tottenham’s recruitment team is convinced to sign the talented striker from Gent with a hefty transfer fee of €30 million. Currently, Son Heung-min or Richarlison is playing as the central striker.
Although Son or Richarlison is not doing badly in the position, Tottenham needs an out-and-out striker at the position in the future. Gift Orban can fit the puzzle with the skill set and finishing ability he possesses.
On pen and paper, Orban’s goal-scoring ability is astonishing but you have to remember the level of competition in the Premier League is much higher than Belgian Pro League. We have to keep an eye if the young Nigerian Striker can maintain his form after the transfer.
Gift Orban has already registered 20 goals in 22 appearances in last season whereas he has already scored 6 goals in 9 games in 2023-24. If he can continue his form till January, it is said that not only Tottenham but also another Premier League giant, Manchester United will chase him.
The Red Devils are said to be interested in this striker due to the poor display in their final third. Anthony Martial is struggling with his current form and fitness. Rasmus Hojlund is young and inexperienced in the Premier League with no other replacement. In such a situation, it is very important to bring another striker to Old Trafford to improve the goal-scoring ability of the team.
Erik Ten Hag’s original plan was to bring two world-class strikers in the summer which included Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen. However, the move failed due to the obstacles from Financial Fair Play regulations.
